  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a bit of heat)
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for thickening the sauce, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch slurry, optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish
